Aniyakande Hospital, Kandana, Gampaha District

When Mr. Robert van Voren GIP asked Nest whether it had visited the Psychiatric wards at Anyakande Hospital, Nest began to visit the 3 long term Psychiatric wards for men.

There are approximately 105 men in long term care. These visits give comfort, activities and refreshments to the men, From time to time a small group is taken to Kåre House for the day where they walk on the beach, have meals, read, meet and chat with others, relax. Many men have returned to their home and family because of the Nest interventions, and using Nest telephone to speak with their family. The Residents visit their own homes.

The Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children

When Nest found out that children under 13 years of age were being referred to the Psychiatric clinic, at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children from all over the country, Nest Community Health Workers started visiting the OPD Room 22. Dr. Swarna Wijetunge is the Consultant Psychiatrist. Every Wednesday morning, Nest community workers, run a play area and give refreshments.

Adults and youth in the Forensic wards at the National Institute of Mental Health, Angoda

Nest introduces activities for the adults and adolescents in the forensic wards once a fortnight. The CHWs take refreshments and many things for everyone to do and enjoy themselves, including taking them out in the garden.

From time to time Nest takes a small group of adults to Kåre House for the day.
